O for a Muse of fire, that would ascend
The brightest heaven of invention,
A kingdom for a stage, princes to act
And monarchs to behold the swelling scene!

--William Shakespeare, Act 1, Prologue of Henry V

Where does the Muse reside? How may she be wooed? Work conjures her, but not always, and not always when you want. She can take her sweet time, but if you don't carry your end of the load, she will not come at all. Sometimes inspiration flows like water. Sometimes getting an idea is like pulling teeth; but as Woody Allen says, "Eighty percent of success is showing up." So you suit up for every game, hoping that the Muse will come out and play.
