GETTING INTO THINGS is a lot easier than getting out of them. Beginnings are happy and hopeful. Partings make people cry, creating a legacy of fear, hate, pain and broken hearts. It gets old fast. Somehow, we pick ourselves up and start over, only to have our hopes dashed again and again. We never learn, fortunately. The heart heals itself, scars fade, and humanity goes on replenishing its numbers. There may be a race of superior beings who do not love, do not hate, do not cry their hearts out for the sorrow of losing the affection of another of their kind. But there aren't very many of them, and they don't have poetry, art or music. I'll take what I've got, thanks.
